Riverdale Review!

Okay, so I'm a little late to the hype with this one.

Months and months ago my best friend implored me to watch Riverdale, and I had an intention of doing so, but I was so wrapped up in exams that I completely forgot about it.

That brings me to Thursday evening. I had (for once) finished up all my homework, and I had nothing to watch, so I was browsing Netflix and I spotted Riverdale on my suggestions list. I instantly knew it was the perfect time to watch it, so I clicked play.

Now, I deserve a little round of applause because I managed to limit myself to one episode a night on Thursday and Friday evening, but I had a completely free Saturday and I ended watching 11 episodes in one day (along with completing a set of exam questions, an essay, AND two paragraphs for English - I officially earned Wonder Woman status on Saturday). That is 495 minutes of Riverdale, or 8 hours 15 minutes. Wow.

I wasn't sure whether I would like Riverdale or not - sometimes American TV shows annoy me - but I instantly fell in love with it. It is the perfect teen drama, an exquisite balance of mystery whodunnit and American teens finding their way through common struggles.

All the characters were excellent. Of course, I have the most cliche opinions. Archie is CUTE, I want Betty to be my new best friend, Veronica NEEDS to teach me some of her Ice Queen tips, and, of course, I am in LOVE with Jughead Jones (along with every other person that way inclined). Juggy is impossible not to love - every girl's dream guy. Not to mention he is really hot.

And that scene where he is standing there in his grey sweater telling Betty he loves her, he looks so vulnerable and genuine that I just melt away inside.

I then watched the first episode of season two, which came out on Wednesday, and I was NOT disappointed. Very happy it started as a continuation of the season one finale. One of my biggest pet peeves is when TV shows skip long periods of time. It gave everyone exactly what they wanted, a dose of what we all grew to love in season one to get us all hooked again, but I have a feeling that isn't going to last long. Some dark s*** is going to go down in Riverdale. The most obvious thing that might trouble fans is Jughead and Betty's relationship - with the inevitable conflict of Jug joining the Southside Serpents, Bughead (Jughead and Betty's hilarious ship name) is in for a bumpy ride.

And, of course, the unknown criminal struck again at the end of the episode, killing Ms Grundy brutally in her own home. I thought it was very clever showing her grooming another boy just before she was murdered. It made me think about how much I hate her and then BAM! She gets killed.

Anyway, I am extremely excited for episode 2, and I can't wait to see what season two has in store for us!
