Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them - Review

This film was absolutely BRILLIANT. And I have to say, I had definitely given it a lot of expectations to live up to, but I certainly wasn't let down.

First and foremost, Eddie Redmayne playing Newt Scamander - a match made in heaven! Although Newt is awkward, different and a bit of an oddball, Redmayne gives the character an undeniable charm that found me smiling for seemingly no reason when I was watching him in the cinema (I was very glad the cinema was dark!)

The film definitely captures the essence of the Harry Potter world, and what makes it so charming is that instantly you just feel right at home. I was delighted to find that whilst watching it I had the small feeling of bottled joy that I always do when I hear Hedwig's Theme, or when I finish one of my well thumbed-through copies of Harry Potter.

I think that what made the film so good was that they could just jump right into the world of magic - there was no need to explain everything, as we all already understand everything (and, for us extreme fans, perhaps too much) about magic.

Overall, I thought this film was a wonderful addition to the world of magic and I am already excited for the next instalment!

  1. I was so excited when this film came out, and I agree that it just added to the world of magic that already exists. Eddie Redmayne was absolutely wonderful as Newt and it was quite unexpected to me but I don't know what idea I had of how Newt should be portrayed but he did it brilliantly.
